Regional Costume Guelaguetza means tribute or offering. The guelaguetza is also call Lunes del Cerro; this is a festivity that takes place the last two Mondays of the month of July. Folk dancers come from the different regions of Oaxaca to get together in an open theater call "El Cerro del Fortin" which has capacity for about 20,000 people. This festival begins in the early morning of that particular Monday and culminates at night with the presentation of a story tale call "Princess Donaji". The Guelaguetza festivity is the biggest indigenous cultural event that takes place in Latin America where the must precious, beautiful and authentic hand made embroidery can be appreciated in the form of typical customs, or regional designs worn to celebrate or tribute their gods in this festivity.
