Shawls The elaboration of these shawls is made in an indigenous hand operated artifact call "telar de cintura" which is an ancient hand operated device. These indigenous people who create this shawls have preserved the original designs and ways their ancestors processed these items. The tinting of the fabrics is made with anilines chemicals and in some with cochineal (animal made dye). The designs of each shawl is finished at the end with a fringe or with an edge named "rapacejo, jarana, rejilla or petatillo" which stands for the form that the ends take. The shawls have different uses: to cover from cold temperatures, or even to cover from the sunrays. At Huaxyacac Crafts you will find the best selection of shawls made out the best colors, tints and designs.
